Research mentorship program
We offer bi-annual hands-on research mentorship opportunities to persons who want to start, revive or boost their career in public health research. This is aimed at training and equipping the next generation of public health researchers. The mentees get an opportunity to be paired and work in person and closely with experts in Public Health taking on guided assignments to help them master the skills better. The mentees are engaged in different activities across the research path in order to prepare them to take on their independent research projects. This opportunity is available to persons with basic research training.

This is a four-months blended program involving virtual and practical learning sessions. We admit two cohorts of mentees every year preparing them to kick-start their career in public health research. This is a non-paid mentorship program only intended to equip the mentees with knowledge and skills.

We invite applications for the 1st cohort of the 2025 Research Mentorship Program in Uganda which will be running from April to July 2025.
Minimum requirements
– Graduated from a Masters program in a health-related field from a recognised
University
– Must have graduated in the last two years
– Planning to launch their career in research
– Be resident in Uganda
Suitable candidates have to be available for the four (4) months of the program and be willing to learn.
Program benefits

– Internet costs to support virtual mentorship during the time of the training

Learning outcomes
Some of the learning outcomes will include; planning and coordinating a research study, preparing research proposals, managing research processes, using key research tools like Kobocollect, ODK, Endnote, data analysis software etc, knowledge translation and dissemination, mastering the art and science of grants and soft skills for thriving in research.
